Unforgettable Day on Porter’s Creek
Six years ago, almost to the day, I experienced something akin to the opening words of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities:
“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.”
I was hiking with a dear friend to a beautiful place at its peak of beauty in spring wildflower season.
The day could not have gotten better. Then, it suddenly got worse. Terrible, in fact.
My friend shared news I knew would come, eventually, but that I never wanted to hear.
Life goes on, and it has gone on, and this friend and I other friends of mine have gone back to Porter Creek many times since the day in the photo.
It was just one of those days that marks itself in your brain forever. Whether so beautiful or so something else that you can’t forget it.
